Meraki Cloud Architecture
Cisco Meraki 500-220 ECMS Cloud Architecture provides a centralized and intuitive platform for managing and monitoring network devices, allowing network engineers to troubleshoot and optimize network performance easily.
Meraki’s cloud-based architecture enables seamless scalability and remote management, making it an ideal solution for distributed networks. Meraki Cloud features redundant servers within each data center, connecting numerous servers to run applications, software, and tools. These servers create a software-defined network, allowing for segregated organizations.
An organization is a container for networks and devices that is a standalone entity within the Meraki 500-220 ECMS Cloud. It does not have access to any other organization in the world. This allows for the creation of different tenants for different organizations and customers. Meraki Cloud allows for a more efficient and secure cloud environment. The Meraki cloud is the core of Meraki’s management solution, consisting of multiple global data centers across the globe.
These centers are in North America, South America, and the UK. The Meraki cloud spans countries, continents, and the globe, allowing users to access it from any location using a single web browser. This enables seamless collaboration and efficient management of data across the world.
The Meraki 500-220 ECMS cloud, the backbone of the Meraki management solution, allows management traffic from devices, networks, and organizations to flow through the cloud. This enables remote management, diagnosis, and operation of networks, streamlining telemetry, analytics, client data, usage statistics, and other valuable features. Remote procedure calls, or RPCs, are used to push and pull configuration information and data from these devices, making them a powerful tool for managing and operating networks.
Let’s understand the networks. Each network consists of firewalls, switches, and access points. These devices connect to the internet via Verizon, ultimately reaching the Meraki cloud. User data is not sent to the Meraki cloud but rather traverses the network to its destination, such as a server or the internet. Devices use remote procedure calls and network automation techniques to generate and send management traffic data. Servers in the Meraki 500-220 ECMS Cloud, which stores statistics, status updates, and other relevant data relating to devices in the management system, process this data. Authorized users can access and analyze the data for managing and monitoring the instruments.

The Licencing Models
Let’s try to understand how the Meraki licensing model works. 500-220 ECMS works with three licensing models. Meraki Subscription Licencing offers customers flexibility and simplicity regarding payment methods, configurations, management, and scalability. Meraki co-term licensing is applied organization-wide, resulting in a single expiration date for every Meraki device managed in an organization for those who want to move to per-device licensing.
To understand co-termination, imagine purchasing ten access points with a one-year license. How would that look visually? If you look at the above image, which shows time on the x-axis and the number of devices on the y-axis, you will now have ten access points with a one-year license, co-terminating when you’re out. For argument’s sake, imagine purchasing 20 more access points with a three-year grant. How will that look? Because you have twice the number of devices, this will now be twice as thick and cut out to roughly three years. Notice how you now have two separate termination dates.
Because you want to keep the Meraki 500-220 ECMS model of simplicity and give you one co-termination date, Cisco takes two chunks of time, merges them, and gives you one co-termination date. They slice off the additional chunk of the longer-term license and bring it down with the shorter-term one so that you have one unified co-termination date. To understand co-term licensing easily, let’s look at the example below. If 10 of your APs have a 1-year license and you buy 20 more APs with a 3-year one, Cisco will merge the license period to around 2.5 years. This is the Meraki model of one co-termination date and simplicity.
