Arista Networks as a company
Arista networks
1. It is a computer network company based in Silicon Valley, Santa Clara, California, to be specific.
2. They offer various solutions but gain popularity from their Data Center ethernet switches.
3. Arista Switches is designed to be low latency and built for Programmability and Automation.
4. All switches run in a single operating system called extensible OS or EOS and run on a Linux kernel.
History
In 2004, Google or Alphabet sought a switch to tie together 100,000 servers at 1G/second ethernet speed. So, at that time, 1G was the standard speed for data center switches. Connecting a switch to 100,000 servers at 1G speed and the cost of 100 US dollars per server was very complicated, and many believed it was impossible. So, Andy Bechtolsheim, the co-founder of Sun Microsystems, put together a team, including David Cheriton and Ken Duda, to deliver on Google’s request. Four years later, in 2008, their first product was created. This was also the same year they appointed Jayshree Ullal as the President and CEO of Arista Certification. In 2010, they launched their first switch in the market, and that device was offered six times the throughput compared to other data center switches. This is also the same year Arista and Microsoft created a hyperscale cloud networking blueprint.
Arista Certification Products and Solutions
1. Arista Ethernet switches can run as a standalone device with automation and programmability.
2. Most notably, using Python scripts with native automation features.
3. We can also add cloud vision as the SDN (software-defined networking) controller to enable Telemetry and Automation features without coding Python.
4. Arista Certification Networks has always led cloud and data center networking solutions.
Other Arista network solutions:
- Cognitive Wi-Fi
- Awake Security
Cognitive Wi-Fi:
They have cognitive Wi-Fi, a Wireless LAN solution for enterprise campus environments. It still needs to be picked up. Cisco and HP still dominate wireless solutions.
Awake Security:
They also have security solutions; this is when they acquire the company. So, Arista Awake Security is an AI-based security operation. Solutions still need to gain popularity, limited resources, and public training is to be available.
Arista Data Center Solutions
Arista Data Center Network solution is the first automation. Believe it or not, Python network automation is more accessible, straightforward, and versatile with Arista switches than other vendors. It is also designed and built for scalability, cloud, and application integration. We are talking about up to millions of servers. Here is an exciting trivia after Arista Certification and Microsoft created the hyperscale cloud networking blueprint. Other cloud giants also become Arista’s customers: companies like Google, Facebook, and Netflix. The cloud as we know it today would only exist at the scale that it does with Arista switches.
Why you need to learn Arista
It is the first identical command syntax with Cisco. It is almost the same as Cisco Nexus 9000 switches, with just a few minor differences. If you are already CCNA or an experienced Cisco Network Engineer, you must spend a few hours learning Arista switches. It would be an excellent addition to your skill sets and additional expertise in your resume.
Arista Certifications
We have an Arista-certified engineer, so they recently changed their certification program in 2021. I changed it to multi-level A certifications, which is the same as Fortinet did. So, in Fortinet, they have NSE1, 2, 3, etc. Arista before it was just A S-A and A stands for Associate-level. I’m not impressed. They should have done it the traditional way. So, the conventional method is you have an Associate, then multiple Specializations or Professional levels. This professional level should have various paths, so there should be a path for Automation, Cloud Networking, Security, Wireless, and many more. Then, the higher tier or the expert level. Certification should be only three or a maximum of four groups.
The good news is that once you are certified, you are not required to retake an exam to keep your certifications; it is based on the point system. Many vendors are doing this already, such as Cisco, CompTIA, and many others. You can earn points in various ways, like
- Attending a webinar
- Participating in communities such as forums, submitting a white paper,
- Attending a higher-level certification course
In this era of rapid digital transformation, Arista certifications are a testament to your dedication to mastering the art and science of networking. So, are you ready to explore, learn, and excel in the realm of Arista’s innovative networking solutions? Your journey starts here.
